Austin On Saturday, State Senator Joan Huffman (SD17), received the Texas Advocacy Project’s “Vision Award” for her work to end domestic violence. Throughout the years, Senator Huffman has authored and sponsored multiple bills aimed at providing protections for survivors. Most recently she sponsored House Bill 281. Now current law, the bill directed and provided funds to the Department of Public Safety to establish an electronic tracking system to track the location and status of sexual assault evidence kits statewide.
