Senator Joan Huffman is a respected, proven leader for our shared conservative values. As our State Senator, Joan Huffman has made historic strides to secure our borders, keep violent criminals behind bars, stop election fraud, protect innocent life, safeguard the Second Amendment, and enhance public safety across Texas. She is the only three-time recipient of the Texas District and County Attorneys Association’s Law and Order Award for her relentless efforts to strengthen the criminal justice system and bring transparency and accountability to the judiciary. When it comes to criminal justice in Texas, nobody is tougher or more effective than Joan Huffman.
Since the beginning of her career as a public servant, Joan Huffman has dedicated her life to upholding the rule of law and protecting our families, first as a Harris County prosecutor and Criminal District Court Judge, and now as an effective voice in the Texas Senate. A tireless supporter of our law enforcement officers, she fought back against radical efforts to defund the police and passed the state’s “Back the Blue Act” into law, which prevents cities and counties from raising taxes if they defund their law enforcement. She has also led the fight to pass critical bail reform legislation to stop soft-on-crime judges from releasing violent criminals back onto our streets and passed a bill into law that allows for the removal of a prosecutor who refuses to uphold the law. Her public safety initiatives include authoring legislation to increase penalties for violent crimes, protect victims of human trafficking, and strengthen laws against fentanyl trafficking to combat the deadly opioid crisis devastating Texas families.
Joan Huffman strongly supports securing our borders and, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, appropriated billions of dollars toward Operation Lone Star to help our state address the massive surge of illegal immigrants during the Biden Administration. Her efforts, in tandem with the Trump Administration’s initiatives, have helped turn the tide against illegal immigration, but there is still work to be done as dangerous individuals and narcotics continue to illegally cross our vast southern border.
Joan Huffman firmly believes that secure elections are the cornerstone of our democratic republic. For this reason, she passed commonsense election reforms, such as voter ID, that make it easy to vote and hard to cheat. At the time, Senator Huffman was criticized by the liberal media for her efforts to secure our elections. However, law-abiding Texans proudly stood with her and supported the bill, which has been in effect since 2018.
It is a fact that families and businesses are moving to Texas by the thousands because we have an economic environment that encourages innovation and job creation. In the Texas Senate, Joan Huffman passed conservative, balanced state budgets that cut wasteful spending and lowered taxes for Texas families and businesses. Joan Huffman is a fighter for the taxpayer and has led efforts to ensure that our legal system is fair, so Texas can remain the strongest state for economic and job growth in America.
As your Attorney General, Joan Huffman will build upon the momentum she has created as one of the most effective and efficient senators to secure the border, protect our elections, support life, enhance public safety, and will fight for the people of Texas and their freedoms in the courtroom and beyond.
